Youth & Family
While offering a fun and safe place to come on Sunday mornings, we teach the core spiritual practices of our philosophy in an atmosphere of Love and Oneness. It does not matter where you come from, what your prior spiritual experiences might have been, or what other practices you might have in your home. We are an open and accepting Spiritual Center that respects all paths to God.
We teach our youth the core spiritual practices of positive prayer, affirmations, meditation, visioning and circulation or service. We nurture the awareness in our youth of the presence of God within them, around them and within everyone. We show them how to apply these spiritual Truths in their own lives and for the greater good of their community and the world. While focusing on spiritual Truths, we continually find ways to celebrate the joy of living.
The mission of the Alaska Center for Spiritual Living’s youth and family ministry is to maintain a sacred space dedicated to spiritual growth and development guided by Love, Trust and Joy; to teach spiritual principles through fun, loving activities that support our Oneness with God.
We provide weekly spiritual lessons for children from pre-school through the teen years during our Sunday Celebration Service. We have inspiring and trained volunteer teachers and assistants as well as Practitioners who are steeped in the Science of Mind principles to support lessons with prayer and teaching our youth about their inherent perfection. We offer separate classes for the following ages:
Pre-school class: 2-7 yrs old; School age class: 7-12 yrs old; Teen group 13-18 yrs.
Youth are welcome to the Sunday school rooms as early as 10:30 am for free time while adults join the meditation practice in the sanctuary. Youth lessons begin at 11 am when our Sunday Service begins and finishes at 12:00 when the Sunday Service ends. Lessons include learning spiritual principles and practices, storytelling, discussion, crafts, snack and other activities.
Adult volunteers work in the nursery. All volunteers with our youth and nursery program have been background checked.
Music
If you’ve been thinking about bringing more joy, community, and fun into your life, then our choir is the place to be! There’s so much laughter happening in rehearsals, we can hardly call it “work.”
Our choir is comprised of singers ranging from beginners to seasoned performers. Regardless of your musical experience, this group is for most everyone. If you’ve been contemplating joining the choir, we invite you to just do it… or you can drop in on a rehearsal and see if it’s a fit for you. We rehearse every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Come join us!
